As in former years, the jury of the New Hungarian Musical Forum’s Composer Competition will again be interested in the relationship that young composers maintain with important oeuvres. On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of his birth and 50th anniversary of his death, the competition now pays hommage to Zoltán Kodály by inviting entries that were inspired by the composer’s art or personality.
The composers of the seven to fifteen-minute-long compositions enjoy great liberty with regard to the instrumentation. They may employ 10 to 16 musicians, and in addition to the typical instruments of the classical orchestra, they may include even a bass guitar or a cimbalom.

This two-part concert will present the finest and most diverse aspects of the Belgian jazz scene. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Belgian's leading big band, will be uniting its powers with the superb saxophonist Philip Catherine, outstanding guitarist Bert Joris and the distinctive singer David Linx to wow the audience as they perform a programme compiled especially for the Bridging Europe festival.
