As a member of the Vienna Boys Choir, the young Austrian pianist Lukas Sternath got the chance to travel the world. After training in his home country, he is now studying with Igor Levit, who himself had the opportunity to introduce himself as a rising star eleven years ago.

The world-renowned composer/conductor who passed away recently at the age of 80 after being awarded the Kossuth Grand Prize this year, once said that "jazz is a fundamental element for me”. At this concert in memory of his life and work, in addition to an early piece of electronic music and a late choral work, we will hear compositions of his that are closely linked to the sounds of jazz and improv performed by prominent artists from the Hungarian jazz scene.

The musicians of our orchestra prepare their favorite pieces for the interactive program recommended for 0-3 year-old children. Edit Székely, the mastermind behind the series, is a flute-player and music teacher, who will make the event even more exciting with children’s songs and plays.

A japán Szapporóban született Takuma Onodera ötéves korában kezdte zenei tanulmányait. Tíz éves korára számos díjat nyert, köztük hét első díjat számos japán versenyen: a Steinway Versenyen, az Imora Nemzetközi Zongorameghallgatáson és öt aranyérmet a Junior Mainichi Versenyen.

The legendary American jazz drummer Brian Blade (Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Bill Frisell) is both a familiar face in Hungary and also a highly sought-after performer in pop circles, having played with many of the greats, including Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. Blade has performed in Hungary on many occasions, including in a trio alongside Norah Jones.

A májusi koncertjén a klezmer zenekar vendége Jordán Adél, a Budapesti Katonai József Színház művésze lesz. A Máté Erzsi-, a Junior Príma-és Bezerédi-díjas színésznő nem először áll a klezmer zenekarral egy színpadon, a korábbi közös koncert sikerek miatt újabb közös fellépésre invitálták a népszerű művésznőt, aki örömmel fogadta a meghívást.

Az idei év legnagyobb szabású szimfonikus hangversenye, ahol két fiatal, de máris világhírű vendégművész tolmácsolásban hallhatjuk az angol zeneirodalom klasszikusait.

LAKVAR was founded by two versatile musicians, the Hungarian-Bulgarian singer-songwriter and percussionist Hajnalka Péter, and the Georgian songwriter, guitarist and panduri player Zura Dzagnidze. Their album Fiction and Folklore, which was released last year, features a reappraisal of Balkan, Caucasus and Central European traditions blended with elements of jazz, pop and rock music.

A kaleidoscope is a traditional toy: a short tube with mirrors inside: when you look inside and turn it, you can see beautiful, colourful patterns that change moment by moment. The program for our concert is, just like a kaleidoscope, a variety of short, beautiful pieces. We start with the music of a ceremony of a long-lived English king, then we will "see" little swans and little chicks through music, we will rejoice together in the spring sunshine, and in the end, we can sing along with the orchestra.
