This season of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra revolves around the spirit of Zoltán Kocsis. In November, we commemorate the anniversary of his death with a concert, while on his birthday at the end of May we, together with the Academy of Music, are organising the Day of Hungarian Classical Music with the intention of creating a tradition, nurturing old values and encouraging the birth of new ones.

Az idén 10 éve megújult Várkert Bazár jubileumi kulturális évadát egy háromnapos művészeti fesztivállal ünnepeljük, amellyel az újranyitás óta eltelt tíz év kulturális sokszínűségét összegezzük.

Az Aranyakkord formációt Kiss Tibi (Quimby) és Vastag Gábor (A Kutya Vacsorája) hozta létre egy 2018-as ködös januári napon teljesen öntudatlanul. Egymás mellett ültek gitárral a kezükben és rájöttek, hogy megalakultak. Az Aranyakkord egy kísérleti műhely, dalkeltető, játék a zenével és a szöveggel. Sajátságos pszichedelikus-akusztikus hangulat, Rock’n’Roll rezervátum, szellemidézés, hangzásvilágát éppúgy jellemzi az utcai poros romantika, mint az éteri csilingelések.

Az idei első koncertet a Várkert Bazár szabadtéri színpadán egy különleges energikus, ütős hangszerekkel kiteljesedő női a cappella együttes, a Napfonat adja. Öt szabad hang összefonódása, ami együtt valami többet alkot, polifonikus egységük néha kórusra emlékeztető erővel szól, máskor egy-egy lágy egyéni hang kerül középpontba, ötük harmóniáját pedig elemi ritmus kíséri majd.

This two-part concert will present the finest and most diverse aspects of the Belgian jazz scene. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Belgian's leading big band, will be uniting its powers with the superb saxophonist Philip Catherine, outstanding guitarist Bert Joris and the distinctive singer David Linx to wow the audience as they perform a programme compiled especially for the Bridging Europe festival.

French music - just like French cuisine - is known for its refinement, its perfect harmony of flavours and colours, and the attention to details. A true gourmet's delight.

The door to Moroccan trance music opens this May evening when one of the youngest female ambassadors of Gnawa culture, Asmâa Hamzaoui, and her own line-up, the Bnat Timbouktou trio, and the the Hungary-based band Tariqa, led by Central and Eastern European region's best-known Gnawa musician, the Moroccan-born Saïd Tichiti, give a joint concert.
