This celebratory concert is proof of this, with a programme of Ligeti's stunning and astonishing masterpieces, as well as homage compositions by György Kurtág, Péter Eötvös and László Vidovszky. László Vidovszky, in his 2006 Ligeti obituary, wrote of his great colleague: “He composed radical and provocative pieces, as well as a requiem. He wrote electronic music at a time when very few people believed in this technique, revived great romantic musical forms and redefined the concept of piano music [...]. He can be considered a forerunner of the vast and fragmented knowledge of the present age, but at the same time he was also the holder and depositary of indivisible old knowledge in every sense.”
