Our first track is a musical guidebook from an outstanding French composer; Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-1894) composed his rhapsody from his own collection of Spanish folk songs. Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999) wrote his highly successful concerto for the typical Spanish instrument, the guitar, in 1940. His idol was Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), who is considered the greatest Spanish composer. We will play two orchestral excerpts from his opera Life is Short, premiered in 1913, and two orchestral suites from his famous ballet The Three-Cornered Hat. Originally, Angel Romero guitarist would have been the soloist of the concert, however, he lives in the United States and cancelled his trip due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The selection of the new guitar soloist is under way, and we are going to inform our audience as soon as possible.
Péter Csaba was born in Cluj-Napoca and has been living in France for decades. He organizes festivals and teaches at several places. His efforts to promote valuable music have been recognized in several countries with top state honours.
