They will demonstrate all of the above at their concert conducted by the Polish-Russian Andrey Boreyko, as their programme includes a 2019 work by a contemporary Hungarian composer living in Vienna, a new concerto for two trumpets by a Turkish pianist and composer and a magical mature piece by Dvořák: his Eighth Symphony. The interesting thing about the concert is how it features both a work by the composer of the season and the instrumental playing of the artist of the season on the same evening.

This night promises to be truly sensational: the piece by Judit Varga - the composer of the season - will receive its first airing in Hungary, and Fazıl Say's two-trumpet concerto will be performed for the first time anywhere in the world tonight. The Prague Symphony Orchestra has played under such chief conductors as Jiři Bělohlávek and Serge Baudo. Gábor Boldoczki - the artist of the season - and Sergei Nakariakov are two Paganinis of the trumpet, a pair of international stars with dazzling technique: for them, no obstacle is insurmountable when it comes to playing their instrument. Their collaboration promises to be an unforgettable experience. After starting her studies in Budapest, Judit Varga graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she teaches today after having lived in the Austrian capital for more than 20 years. Her works are played at international festivals. Fazıl Say's path as a pianist led him from his homeland of Turkey to the great concert halls of the West, and as a composer he has fulfilled commissions from some of the best-known artists in the world. Born in Saint Petersburg, Andrey Boreyko has conducted many major symphonic ensembles around the globe, ranging from the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra to the New York Philharmonic.

Judit Varga: Happy Birthday Major Ludwig - Hungarian première
Fazıl Say: Concerto for Two Trumpets and Orchestra - world première
Dvořák: Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88

Conductor: Andrey Boreyko
