6. Body.Radical Japanese Nights

TRIGGER POINT
Choreographer, dancer: OKUYAMA Barabbas (J)

The moment the body starts-up all at once tothoroughly prove its existence to itself.
It throbs, spasms and stumbles clumsily.
There is no doubt that time gradually becomes sharper.

Eventually, the body will become the trigger point;the destination of trajectories drawn by overlapping gazes.
OKUYAMA Barabbas butoh dancer and choreographer, was a member of the Butoh Company DAIRAKUDAKAN (Chief : MARO Akaji) between 2001- 2016. During this time he also worked with Josef NADJ and KASAI Akira.

He draws inspiration from the method of Butoh, always trying to stand as intensely on the stage as he can, challenging other kinds of performances to find  the most persuasive way to keep the attention of his audience. Next to his dancer career he works sometime as an actor.

Stars fall in sink-corner strainer

Choreographer, dancer: OMORI Yoko (J)

How to do that keep it forever asbeautiful as a specimen and kill gently it without touching. That is to refrigerate.

I'm kept refrigerated by him to store"Adorable me". I also killed everything gently included invisible things which I pretend to see and a tea pack that he dumped in a triangular corner.

Long time ago, surely I could see a rabbit on the moon with mommy and I could hear a sound of waves from the shell and stars were falling there. However, I gradually found that it was a fancy that I just drew and subjective impression. As time passed, my fancy was come apart at the seams and I can't see what I was supposed to see and I can see something I do not want to see. I thought what to do. So I gently keep it without touching. If I do so, everything will be able to keep beautiful. I will be able to stay happy.  Even now he drinks that tea every morning and stars are falling in triangular corner where he dropped the tea pack in my mind.

He wants me to store "Adorable me". So I was gently killed.

OMORI Yoko is student of Japan Women’s College of Physical Education, had learned ballet contemporary dance and hip hop from Takahashi Moto [TOKYO ELECTROCK STAIRS]. Leftovers

Choreographer, dancer: Josh MARTIN (CAN)

Leftovers is a piece developed through support from The Canada Council forthe Arts, The Dance Centre, and mentorship from Kokoro Dance’s Barbara Bourget. This solitary dance investigates thebody as a memory bank. Muscle tissue, organs and bones all storing their own collected accounts of past events, action and trauma, not readily accessed by the mind. Disconnecting movement from thought, the dance attempts to externalize the inner moments of body recall, expanding what gets churned up in the retrieval.

Josh MARTIN received his diverse training as a dance artist across North America and Europe. He now lives and works in Vancouver, BC, on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of theCoastSalishPeoples. In his ongoing career as an interpreter and collaborator, he has worked with many dance companies and independent choreographers such as Justine A. Chambers, Helen Walkley, Dana Gingras (Animals of Distinction), Wen Wei Wang (Wen Wei Dance), Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond (Out Innerspace Dance Theatre), Amber Funk Barton (the response.), Serge Bennathan (Les Productions Figlio), Vanessa Goodman (Action at a Distance), Karen Jamieson, and as a past company member of Le Groupe Dance Lab in Ottawa under the direction of Peter Boneham. Have yout hought that you want to lick your own eyes?

Choreographer, dancer: IMAEDA Seina (J)

Have you ever thought that you want to lick your own eyes?

If you can not lick your own eyes, would you like to lick somebody else’s eyes?

I think that there is a box filled withcertain feelings that you must not step into, and emotions that you must not open in human beings.

Still, I would like to open the boxthat I must not open.

There is nothing outside the box. And Iwill certainly not be me.

Relationships

Choreographer: XIAO Zhiren | Dancers: XIAO Zhiren, YAN Hanyi(CN)

Does the relationship give birth tothe eternal struggle between fear and expectation, expectation and disillusionment, and disillusionment and desire? That would be the eternal cycle that we always want to get rid of but still get stuck in? We want to discover a system in it, though we often believe it is chaotic, even though it has a flower life. We think it is peaceful, though strife-filled.
